Kenaz Collective Open Studio
Open Studio = creating in community (but we also have encaustic stations!)
Kenaz Collective = think tank for dialogue focused on expansion of the current art system to better work for artists
Kenaz Collective Open Studio is a time to create and dialogue about various topics as we work. All are free to dip in and out of the conversation as desired. We will have posted discussion topics to ponder as we’re together.
For each open studio date, 12 encaustic stations and 4 BYOS stations will be available. Please register at the calendar below so the proper station availability can be tracked.
Encaustic Stations – 12 available
- Encaustic Stations include a 30×48″ dedicated covered work space with access to a hot palette and heat gun, plus medium, paint and use of tools.
- Tables will be standing height with a stool available. Requests for sitting height can be made in advance. Hot boxes will also be available for use.
- The size limit on substrates is 12×12″. No substrates or paper will be supplied.
- A $45 fee is requested to cover cost to replenish medium, paint and tools, plus Amanda’s set up and maintenance. This can be paid via Venmo with a link provided in your confirmation email.
BYOS/Table Space Stations – 4 available
- BYOS/Table Space Only includes a 30×36″ dedicated work space with no table covering. BYOS = Bring Your Own Supplies (no supplies/tools are provided).
- Tables will be standard sitting height and will not be equipped for encaustic work.
- Bring a mat or covering for the table if a sticky mess will be made.
- A $5 fee is requested to cover cost for Amanda’s set up and maintenance, a $5 fee is requested. This can be paid via Venmo with a link provided in your confirmation email.
Kenaz Collective General Agreement
- All are welcome to the table with the understanding that we arrive with respect for each other. Studio Joy honors and respects gender diversity, neurodiversity, disability diversity, racial diversity, wealth diversity, all the components that make humanity wonderfully interesting and beautiful. A person may be asked to leave with no refund if they are unwilling to attend to conversation respectfully.
- Participants agree to clean up after themselves, including putting away supplies, cleaning up the table space, and ensuring the floor is debris free.
- Amanda will not be teaching during open studio time unless booked in advance.
- Participants will familiarize themselves with the wonky nature of the studio, including uneven floors in places, and will be mindful and aware as they move through the studio.
- Studio Joy is a fragrance free space. Please refrain from wearing perfumes or scents and from bringing scented materials to the studio.
- Participants assume full responsibility for risks, injuries or damages that occur to a person or to a person’s property during Open Studio time whether caused by negligence or otherwise, and will not hold Amanda Jolley or any business affiliated with Amanda Jolley financially responsible for such.
