After being challenged and inspired at a new blog, Salt, I created this page today. The text by and on the sun reads “Though my weeds be large, yet will I praise my God.” The Bible verse in the weed is
Isaiah 61:11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and PRAISE to spring forth before all the nations.
I was also inspired by my husband’s words yesterday. He commented that pulling weeds is a form of worship to me. And it is. I am always amazed by my Lord and His beautiful creation every time I sit down and begin to pull. I praise Him as I pull.
Here is a glimpse of the process of creating a page in the book:
Then I protect the table and myself.
Out come my supplies.
After painting with acrylic paints, I tried something new. I smeared fresh mud made by God just for this day all across the bottom of the page.
Then I glued on a photo and some freshly pulled weeds from my wet yard. They were quite easy to pull in the damp soil.
After blow drying my mud and weeds, I applied a layer of acrylic gel to keep everything in place. This can make a page rather sticky. I won’t be able to shut it for months without wax paper in between the pages, but I am hoping my mud will stay. This is an experiment. I’ll let you know if all goes wrong, otherwise assumed it worked!
For the finishing touches I wrote the text using Pigma Micron and Brush pens, tracing some with pencil for added texture.
