Reflection on pattern and abstraction of the subconscious

July = Encaustic celebration!

Public school #3
Public School #3

To kick off July in proper encaustic fashion, I will be expanding my Public School series, and experimenting with new techniques before heading to Encausticamp!! Less than two weeks from now, I will be fully immersed in encaustic heaven in beautiful Salem, Oregon. Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch, author of Encaustic Workshop and soon to be released Encaustic Mixed Media: Innovative Surfaces and Techniques for Working in Wax, put this retreat together. She will be teaching, as well as Crystal Neubauer, Bridgette Guerzon Mills, Michelle Belto, and Judy Wise. I am soooo excited!

Before leaving town, I want to invite you all to the River Market Regional Exhibiton Opening Reception for a viewing of my encaustic piece, Public School #5.

Date: Friday, July 8
Time: 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Kansas City Artist Coalition, 201 Wyandotte, Kansas City, MO 64105

The exhibition is open until August 19 for those of you that can’t make it to the reception.

And I am so excited to show you what the students of the Soldering in the Round class produced. Aren’t these gorgeous?  Only one of the students had prior soldering experience, and they all did so well.

While I have no more classes scheduled at this time, I will have one soldering class in August, and a couple more offered this fall.
