Concert Band

Guess what I got to do while visiting my hometown?

I played in the city band with my mom and niece. We practiced Monday night and played at an ice-cream social in a neighboring town Tuesday night. I was amazed that my fingers recalled their place on the flute. I remembered!

This playing, this experience, has caused a stirring within me. Seems my playing of music is becoming a recurring theme this summer. Makes me wonder what God has in store for me next.

I have been thinking about getting my violin in working order (it is currently missing a string and the bow needs restrung too)… I haven’t played since high school. I was quite good and I enjoyed it. But, I could only take one elective. I needed a foreign langauge to be competitive for college and so I dropped it. Marissa’s voice teacher also give lessons for violin. We’ll see what the budget looks like when the other two kids get here.

Music is so inexplicably spiritual. I liken it to the Spirit making intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Rom 8:26) I hope you do get to play that violin again. It would feel very good.
