Curious how beeswax is used as a medium? This class will explore the basics of painting with encaustic medium, a mix of beeswax, damar resin, and often pigment. Along with learning the history of encaustic, we will explore how the medium can be used in present time. No painting or artistic experience necessary and all supplies are provided. Please bring a sack lunch.

Techniques learned:

• using tools
• fusing layers
• painting
• basic collage
• adding texture
• creating depth

Class size: 8 students max.
